Thank you for coming to see The Kitzhaber Family Light Show.

My name is Jeremy, I am U.S. Air Force Retired, a disabled veteran, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and I volunteer as the VFW Post 63 Legislative Committee Chairman here in Boise.

Buddy Poppy proceeds represent no profit to our VFW post.  100% of donations received will be placed in the veterans assistance fund and used for members of the Armed Forces, veterans’ welfare, or for the well-being of needy dependents, widows and orphans of veterans in our local area in a time of hardship.

Christmas 2020, our generous show viewers donated a total of $810, much of which was in change, which presented to the VFW Post 63 in January 2021. As you can see, any amount is appreciated an adds up quickly.

I invite you to come up to the table at the left of the garage door to make a donation and accept a Buddy Poppy, the official memorial flower of the VFW. The Poppy represents the bloodshed by American Service Members, and we will not forget their sacrifices. We Honor the Dead by Helping the Living.

As a patriotic citizen, I want you to know that your Buddy Poppy was assembled by disabled, needy and aging veterans in VA rehabilitation centers so wear your Buddy Poppy proudly to show your support. Also, if there is still chocolate on the table, please take a piece for yourself too.

Please be careful when exiting your vehicle and walking in the dark due to traffic and the possibility of ice. The Buddy Poppy is a gift; however, donations are appreciated. If you can spare any change or a few paper bills, the donation bin is on the table surrounded by red and white lights.

Although there is no specific way the Buddy Poppy is required to be worn, it is meant to be worn on a lapel, collar, or pocket. It is often positioned at 11 o’clock to represent the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the time that WWI formally ended.
